BEST WAY TO AVOID BROMHIDROSIS IS TO WEAR MERINO WOOL SOCKS

Along with sunshine and long days, summer is the season of smelly sneaker feet. When it’s hot out, it’s nearly impossible to wear a closed shoe without being shocked by the scent of your own feet when you take them off. Foot odor, or bromodosis, is primarily caused by excessive sweating, says Alex Kor, DPM, MS, an American Podiatric Medical Association member podiatrist and spokesperson. And he knows exactly how to prevent smelly feet.

The best thing you can do to avoid stinky feet is to wear socks. “The ideal sock is one that wicks away the moisture,” he says. “In other words, the sock should be designed to move the sweat to the other surface and also allow for the skin and sock interface to dry rapidly. Merino wool socks are ideal for these two functions.”
