HAS CHRONIC PLANTAR FASCIITIS MET ITS MATCH

Injectable human umbilical cord and amniotic membrane matrix in patients with plantar fasciitis has been investigated by Dr. Garras of University of Illinois in Chicago. Preliminary findings discovered that out of 43 patients who had plantar fasciitis for at least 3 months, injections of Clarix Flo decreased pain and boosted recover significantly.
Plantar fasciitis affected 2 million patients annually and of these patients a portion do not get better with conservative treatment and this is when injecting amniotic membrane matrix looks promising.
The difference between amniotic membrane matrix and corticosteroid injections are that cortisone injections offer pain relief but at a cost of complications such as atrophy of the fat pad, rupture of the plantar fascia or thinning. Cortisone injections are not a cure for plantar fasciitis but a pain reliever that can last anywhere from 3-6 months. Amniotic membrane matrix promotes regeneration and actual healing due to the proteins that help modulate inflammation. Another option is PRP (platelet rich plasma) in which a patients own platelet blood is reinjected into the site affected to promote healing.
