Daniel Keating, DPM spent 30 years in private practice with his brother Sean, and last year, merged his practice into Excelsior Orthopaedics. Now he has taken on a statewide post as president of the New York State Podiatric Medical Association (NYSPMA). One of the issues NYSPMA is focusing on involves fall prevention.

"We’ll want to evaluate the patient and see if it’s a lower extremity problem or something we might not be treating, say their eye problem or a hip or knee injury. We’re going to be able to recognize that and work as a care provider and send them to the appropriate specialist ... or if there’s something we would handle, it may be balance training or a brace, or some kind of modification in a walker or a cane to improve their balance and prevent the fall."
