UNKNOWN RUNNING PATHS ARE A DANGER FOR BAREFOOT RUNNERS

Barefoot running can be very risky at the best of times, but running into unknown territory can be even more risky.  Why people risk it to begin with is another matter as the chances of stepping on stones and glass, etc. is not worth the risk.  Barefoot running should only be done by experienced runners on a safe running environment.  If you are not a runner already, starting barefoot is not the way to go as barefoot running is not for everyone.

While running is a great exercise, it cannot be tolerated by everyone as it can be stressful on your joints, especially your knees.  Our foot clinic always recommends to wear proper foot wear with custom orthotics and to start slowly and work your way up.  At our foot clinic we always educate our patients in the proper technique and foot wear for safe exercise when ever one of our patients requests it.
