THE HARDY'S MEET AN AMAZING PODIATRIST IN BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

Before our trip to Australia in which our goal was to get Shannon settled in her apartment and Podiatry school at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane where she is enrolled and will eventually receive her  Honours B.Sc. in Podiatric Medicine, we met and corresponded with Greg Dower through LinkedIn who is owner and founder of My FootDr which is a chain of 20 Podiatry Clinics in Australia and 3 Asian countries.  He is quite a character, very friendly and has even offered Shannon a job during school at one of his clinics.

His foot clinics are state-of-the-art with an extensive line of top quality shoes and sandals.  All of his custom orthotics and orthopaedic shoes are manufactured from computer CAD milling machines on-site with professional boot makers on staff.  He also manufactures custom braces for a wide variety of conditions.  Very upbeat and totally professional from top to bottom.  The clinic that we met him in had 10 staff members woking when we were there as well Greg Dower had just finished casting and fabricating custom orthotics as well as dispensing athletic shoes for 5 members of the visiting national cricket team from India.

We obtained quite of few ideas and tips from his operation, several of which we are contemplating incorporating into our foot clinic.  One of his greatest assets is his enthusiasm for what he is doing.  You  felt like you had known him for many years upon just meeting him.  I have to say that I think that I have found Australians to be one of the friendliest people I have ever met, very down to earth with no pretences.

I am writing this blog on our last leg of our journey home flying from Beijing, China, all in all a 30 hour total flight.  You need at least 3 weeks to get you body clock back in order as there is a 14 hour time difference from Toronto to Brisbane.

Looking forward to getting back to Toronto but we are already missing Shannon.  Shannon spent the 1st 4 years in St. Andrews, Scotland but she was there with many friends and her boyfriend.  This time she is on her own with nobody else she knows which may be a bit hard but should be good for studying as she will have no distractions.
