RUNNING INJURIES AND RUNNING SHOES

According to Podiatrist, Dr. Wayne Edwards, when choosing  a pair of running shoes, ensure that they fit properly and feel comfortable.  It is a myth that you need to go up one shoe size to ensure this comfort, half a shoe size is adaquate.  People have a wide variety of foot shapes.  Low-arched mobile feet need more support from the shoe and are grouped as stability and motion control shoes.  Average-arched feet can be accommodated in most nuetral shoe designs.  High-arched feet benifit from cushioning. It is recommended that serious runners go to a specialist running shop and have a video analysis in order for them to get the right shoe.  The Academy Foot Team
