If your days are long, grueling, and mostly spent on your feet, supportive shoes are a must. So we asked foot surgeon Diane Koshimune, DPM of Kaiser Permanante Medical Group in San Jose, California to give us her take on the best shoes for all-day wear.

Shoes with solid soles (versus flexible ones that bend easily) offer the most support, she says. “Flexible shoes allow for increased motion, so there’s more wear and tear on your joints,” she says.
